How Can We Serve You? Case Study: The U.S. Tennis Open Championships
The annual United States Open tennis championships, currently in their 127th year, were attended by 721,059 fans this year and watched by 55.8 million viewers worldwide on CBS’s broadcasts, both record numbers in the history of the event. Held for two weeks in August and September, the U.S. Open is one of the oldest tennis championships in the world and is a “two-week sports and entertainment extravaganza”, according to the organization. There are five major championships, more than 600 professional male and female players, and over $20 million of prize money awarded during the 127 matches of the event. All games are held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, N.Y. For this world-class event, excellence in telecommunications is imperative. As the telecommunications provider for the United States Tennis Association (U.S.T.A.) corporate headquarters in White Plains, N.Y. since 1996, TechTele has delivered that excellence.
A year after being chosen as the U.S.T.A.’s telecommunications provider, TechTele was awarded the contract for a PBX upgrade and its relocation to the newly constructed Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Over the past 12 years, TechTele has provided on-site support weeks prior to the start of the event and during the two weeks of the event’s run. Before the event, TechTele is on hand to set up, test, and modify all telecommunications equipment. TechTele provides ring-down circuits between the courtside judges and the command center; phone service to all outside courts, 95 corporate suites, the players, and emergency first aid staff; and amenities as needed. TechTele personnel are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the entire duration of the U.S. Open.
As a result of their expertise in providing services to the National Tennis Center, TechTele was selected by CBS Sports in 1999 to provide telecommunication to their production trailers and to the CBS Sports studio. Once the U.S. Open is over, TechTele continues to provide ongoing maintenance services to the U.S.T.A. as well as upgrades and VOIP deployment. How can TechTele Communications serve you?
